Camouflage & Mimicry

Project Context

This series was developed as part of the university course Visual Communication 1 under the title Camouflage & Mimicry. The task was to photograph still life objects that visually suggest something else through subtle changes. The new form should break away from the original function and create an unexpected, even absurd connection.

mockup showing one of the object transformations from the Camouflage & Mimicry series

Process

I approached the assignment by interpreting the theme literally. Each object was paired with a second form that either mimics or doubles its function. A teabag becomes a handbag. A lightbulb becomes a candleholder. Earphones turn into earrings. The focus was on simple, clear transformation. All images were photographed in the university’s studio using a neutral setup with minimal editing.
