Black & White

Project Context

This is an ongoing selection of photos I’ve taken over the past few years. Most of them were captured in Wilhelmshaven and the surrounding region. Some happened on the way to university, others during walks or while travelling.

I don’t go out with a plan to take photos. They happen when something catches my eye. A detail, a shape, a shift in light. These are not documentary images. They are quiet observations. A way of seeing.

Approach

I take photos when I walk. I don’t wait or search. If something feels right, I stop.

What interests me is how space holds together. How light falls. How something small can shift the balance of a place.

Working in black and white helps
me reduce everything to the essentials.
Line, contrast, stillness.

Figures

Figures placed in public space. Captured in passing, often with distance.

Structures

Built surfaces and edges. Reduced to light, form and shadow.

Paths

Walkways and passages. Usually empty, framed by architecture or landscape.
