BlendeEins

Project Context

This poster series was created during my internship at Kopf & Hand for the short film festival  Blende Eins. The posters were intended as visual gifts to be handed out at the regional short film award ceremony. The only requirement was to base the designs on places and motifs from Wilhelmshaven.

The posters needed to work as standalone pieces and form a visually coherent series. I had full creative freedom in the process.

Selected posters shown at the award ceremony Arngast lighthouse and Alte Mole

Process

I developed a bold, reduced style based on illustration and vibrant color blocking. The goal was to create a pop-cultural, memorable aesthetic that would celebrate Wilhelmshaven through recognizable shapes and strong contrasts. I worked with a modular system of motifs, colors and compositions. In a very short time frame, I produced over 25 variations of posters. From these, two designs were selected and printed:
one showing the historic Arngast lighthouse, the other the Alte Mole.

Additional Variations

In addition to the two selected designs, I created a larger series of posters exploring different color combinations and compositions. The following selection shows some of the alternative versions developed during the design phase.
